Visa for family reunion (long term)

The application can only be submitted on the day of the appointment.
All required documents will be forwarded to the Aliens Authority (“Ausländerbehörde”) competent for your intended place of residence in Germany.
Applications can take several months to be processed. The Embassy does not have any control over the processing time of the Aliens Authority. After the application has been approved by the Aliens Authority, the Embassy will issue a residence permit in the form of a visa. The Aliens Authority requires all residence Permit holders to register upon their first arrival. A final residence permit will be granted in Germany after arrival.
Please be informed that knowingly providing false Information during the visa process will result in your visa application being denied.
Please submit Original documents and one copy each. In individual cases, you may be required to provide additional documents than those mentioned below.

- one rescent passport size picture
- Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 6 months after arriving in Germany with at least two empty pages)
- Original marriage certificate (if applicable with apostille or legalisation)
- Original or certified copy of spouse's passport holding either a German or EU passport o a residence permit for Germany
- Evidence of basic knowledge of the German language (Level A1). More Information here (german only)
- If a recognised German language certificate cannot be obtained in the country of your origin, the language skills will be test on the day of your appointment at the Embassy.
- The visa fee is waived for applicants married to an EU national.

- Original or certified copy of fiancée's passport holding either a German or EU passport or a residence permit for Germany
- Letter of registration from the German registrar office (Anmeldung zur Eheschließung)
- Evidence of basic knowledge of the German language (Level A1). If a recognised German language certificate cannot be obtained in the country of your origin, the language skills will be test on the day of your appointment at the Embassy.
- Formal obligation (Verpflichtungserklärung)
- Visa fee (equivalent of 75 EUR) payable ONLY in TTD cash or credit card

- Original birth certificate (if applicable: apostille or legalisation) of German child or proof a pregnancy (Mutterpass)
- If applicable: identification document of the German child
- Original or certified copy acknowledgement of Paternity and declaration of consent by the mother each registered by a German authority/ Declaration of Custody for the child, if applicable
- Original or certified copy of the passport of parent living in Germany and if applicable, German residence permit
- Registration certificate (“Meldebescheinigung”) of German child
- The visa fee is waived for parents of an EU national.

If the father is mentioned on the birth certificate, you have to present a court order for sole custody of the child. If one parent has been legally granted liberal access to the child, a certified declaration of consent and a certified copy of the parent's valid picture-ID have to be submitted as well

Please note that the German Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents at any time during processing. Submission of the above mentioned documents does not guarantee that a visa is granted.
