Our Honorary Consuls
Honorary Consuls support and assist the diplomatic missions abroad with their local counsel and contacts. They are honorary officers who are not necessarily German citizens, but often nationals of the host country. Compared to diplomatic missions, honorary consuls are not authorized to perform all consular acts and have limited official assistance capabilities. Because they generally practice their consular duties alongside a primary occupation, they cannot be expected to be constantly present or available by phone. Therefore, please always make an appointment by phone or email in advance if you require any service. If there is an honorary consul at your holiday destination and you need assistance, you should contact them first, as they are most familiar with the local situation. The Embassy in Port of Spain is supported by ten honorary consuls.
