The application can only be submitted on the day of the appointment. All required documents will be forwarded to the Aliens Authority (Ausländerbehörde) competent for your intended place of residence in Germany. Student visa applications take about 3 - 4 Weeks to be processed. The processing time can be extended by the Aliens Authority. After the application has been approved by the Alien Authority, the Embassy will issue a entry visa for Germany.

The Aliens Authority requires all residence permit holders to register upon their first arrival. A final residence permit for the duration of your studies will be granted in Germany after arrival.

Please submit Original documents and one copy each with the application.

Requirements are:

• Completed and signed application form:

  Please complete your online application form , print it out, sign it and submit it along with the other documents. Please ensure that the barcode is printed in high quality.

• 1 recent biometrical passport photograph (35 x 45 mm, front facial view, white background, not older than 3 months). Digitally altered pictures will not be accepted. - please do not attach the photo to the application form.
• Valid national passport (issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 6 from the intended arrival in Germany, with 2 subsequent blank pages) - original plus 1 copy of the data page.
• Proof of housing, e.g. hotel/hostel/AirBnB (min. for the first week) with full address
• Letter of acceptance / admission letter or conditional acceptance letter from a German university/college
• Letter of motivation providing information why you wish to study in Germany
• Curriculum Vitae including your educational and professional achievements
• Proof of qualifications: school exit certificate allowing access to university OR Bachelor/Master certificates with transcripts
• Proof of Language proficiency if course is taught in German only (min. B2)

• Proof of financial means / sufficient funds for the entire stay, at least for the first year of study (minimum of 992 EUR per month - for full-time studies: 11.904 EUR)

  - Proof of a blocked account (you have free choice of provider) showing a minimum amount according to the duration of your intended stay (also see opening a blocked bank account), or

  - Proof of sponsorship/scholarship by a German institution, or

  - bank statement, if sponsored: signed Sponsoring letter and certified copy of ID/Passport, or

  - German formal obligation

• Visa fee (equivalent of 75 EUR) payable ONLY in TTD cash or credit card

After application has been granted:

• Proof of health insurance covering the first three months of your stay in Germany,
• Prepaid airway bill if applying from another country than Trinidad and Tobago.

Please note that the German Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents at any time during processing. Submission of the above mentioned documents does not guarantee that a visa is granted.
