All persons who wish to work in Germany are required to obtain a residence Permit. Employment visa applications can take between two weeks to 12 weeks to be processed.

Process:

To apply for an employment visa the applicant needs to book an appointment. Upon submission of all required documents the application will be forwarded to the competent German authorities. After the application has been approved the Embassy will issue a residence permit in the form of a visa with the duration for the first 90 days, which will include the authorisation to work in Germany. A final residence permit will be granted in Germany by the Aliens Authority (Ausländerbehörde). The Aliens Authority requires all residence permit holders to register upon their first arrival.

Requirements:

The EU Blue Card allows third-country nationals with a recognised university degree to take up employment in Germany according to their qualifications. To obtain it, you need to prove that you have a job in Germany which corresponds to your qualification. You must earn an annual gross salary of at least 45.300,00 EUR.

Specialists in the fields of Mathematics, IT, Life Sciences and Engineering as well as Doctors may be entitled to an EU Blue Card if they earn the same amount as comparable German workers, but no less than 41.041,80 EUR gross per year. In this case, the BA (Federal Employment Agency) must approve your employment. This approval is not required if you earned your university degree in Germany.

  • Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 6 months after arriving in Germany with at least two empty pages)
  • one passport size picture
  • Curriculum vitae of professional career, including certificates, diplomas, etc.
  • German university degree or recognized foreign degree comparable to a German degree
  • Contract/binding job offer with details of gross annual salary
  • Declaration of Employment form
  • Visa fee (equivalent of 75 EUR) payable ONLY in TTD cash or credit card

A residence permit for the purpose of self-employment can be issued if:

  • there is an economic or a regional interest
  • the work has a positive influence on the economy
  • the financing is secured

  • Adequate pension plan, only if you are above the age of 45. An offer from a private pension or life insurer must be submitted which guarantees a monthly pension of 1,188.92 euros after the age of 67 (for at least 12 years) or guarantees an asset amount of 175,068 euros. Alternatively, evidence can also be provided from currently available assets.
  • Visa fee (equivalent of 75 EUR) payable ONLY in TTD cash or credit card

To work as an Au Pair in Germany you must be at least 18 years old and not older than 26 years at the time of the application. For your stay a minimum duration of six months is required. According to the visa regulations, you are not allowed to work as an Au Pair in Germany for more than 12 months.

Requirements:

  • Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 6 months after arriving in Germany with at least two empty pages)
  • one current passport size picture
  • Au Pair contract with an Au Pair agency or family in Germany stating the full address (including postal code) of your Au Pair family
  • Proof of German language skills, at least level A1
  • Motivation letter
  • Visa fee (equivalent of 75 EUR) payable ONLY in TTD cash or credit card

After approval:

  • Flight reservation to Germany
  • Proof of travel health insurance for the first 90 days
